Shame is the driving force of this story. Between the father's constant bigotry and the sibling's debilitating self-loathing, the child learns to bury their happiness and put the shadow behind them. A reflection of this struggle, white noise will grow in intensity as the child's internal turmoil worsens. Meanwhile, the music will follow a coming-of-age progression: jovial and innocent at first; soft and timid in the face of conflict; dramatic and sad under duress; melancholy in the aftermath; and the eventual return of hope.

Inspired by the emotional journey of Inside Out, and the innocent love in Luca, I embraced Michael Giacchino and Dan Romer's work between moments of intentional silence.
